The IFCHC was involved in a side event on Monday at the World Health Assembly in Geneva. It was organized by two main partners, World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) and Towards Unity for Health. Representing the later, Prof Jan De Maeseneer, one of the founding partners of IFCHC on behalf of the European Forum for Primary Care, provided an extensive presentation , involving Michael Kidd, president of WONCA world and Jolanta Bilinska, chair of IAPO (International Alliance of Patients’ Organizations). The room was packed with 80 attendants, representing ministers from WHO member states, high level WHO representatives and from the UN/WB/GatesFoundation Primary Health Care Performance Initiative.

The WFPHA presented their Global Charter for the Public’s Health—the public health system: role,
functions, competencies and education requirements which will be an interesting document to work on by the IFCHC.
